Bird photography in Colombia can be one of the most exciting experiences of your life. Not only because of the incredible diversity of birds you can photograph on any tour, but also because of the warm people, rich culture, delicious food, beautiful reserves, and the genuine hospitality that make every journey unforgettable. Traveling with a local company also opens doors to authentic experiences — from remote birding spots and conservation projects to unique landscapes that few visitors ever get to see. It’s a deeper way to connect with nature truly special photographs. 1. Glistening- green Tanager 2. Rufous-throated Tanager (NE) 3. The Butterfly Coquette is a hummingbird of the genus Lophornis, notable for its plumage and profile. Measuring about 6–8 cm; Males may show crest or tufts and throat or crown colors that flash in light. Many photographers often confuse the Butterfly Coquette with the Festive Coquette, so it is important to note the clear differences: the Butterfly Coquette occurs in Andean cloudforest and foothills while the Festive Coquette is found in the Atlantic Forest of southeastern Brazil; males of the Festive Coquette show conspicuous facial tufts and a well-defined throat patch, whereas Butterfly Coquette males lack prominent cheek tufts and have a subtler facial pattern; tail and wing markings and slight differences in bill and tail proportions also help separate them, and vocalizations and display behaviors differ as well. #butterflycoquette #hummingbirds #birdscolombia #hummingbirdsofinstagram #hummingbirdsofcolombiaButton

Some of the most emotional moments during the last photography tour came when I captured the Rainbow-bearded Thorntail (#chalcostigmaherrani). This tiny hummingbird always delights photographers with its presence — a flash of iridescent color in the high Andean air. #rainbowbeardedthornbill #hummingbirds #birdsphotography #retornophototoursButton

Bouquet of Colours, bouquet of birds — what more could you ask for in life? Bird photography is a deep journey — one that we don’t just enjoy, but one that gives us peace of mind. With every sunrise in the field, every silent wait, every click of the shutter, we learn to breathe slower, to see deeper, to be fully present. Among wings and light, worries fade. Among forests and skies, the soul settles. There is no competition about who has the best shot. It’s about the process — about doing your best and improving every day. It’s about sharing the trail, enjoying the landscapes, connecting with local communities, and tasting delicious food after a long day in the field. It’s about gratitude. It’s about connection. It’s about living fully — one frame at a time. 1. Barred Puffbird (Emblematic) 2. Bay headed Tanager (Emblematic) 3. Vermilion Cardinal (Colorfull) 4. Red-ruffed Fruitcrow 5. and 6. More than 40 years ago, I was born in one of the most biodiverse countries in the world — home to nearly 2,000 bird species. If I count only the birds I’ve photographed (the beautiful ones, of course 😄), I’m probably close to 1,000 species. For me, keeping an eBird list isn’t the most important thing. It’s fun, yes — but what’s even more fun is photographing as many birds as possible, from the most common to the most extraordinary, always leaving something unmistakable behind: my own signature, my own visual mark that only means RETORNO TO PROTECT, CONSERVE AND REGENERATE TERRITORIES FOR US AND FOR THE FUTURE OF THE HUMANITY. Tour: Emblematic Birds. 1. Spectacled Owl 2. Rufus tailed Jacamar 3. Lineated Woodpecker 4. Barred Puffbird 5.
