It was a great trip. Colombia is beautiful and the people were very friendly. The Harpy Eagle nest was quite remote. Reaching the camp required one short flight from Bogota, two road transfers on increasingly tricky roads, and some trekking, with a horse on standby for baggage if needed. Without the logistics of Retorno Photo Tours, this would have been impossible. With their assistance, it was a wonderful adventure. Maria and Haido were excellent guides. The tented accommodation was comfortable and the food tasty and the portions generous. We saw the female eagle well and made interesting observations of the well-grown eaglet in the nest. Unspoilt rainforest, rugged mountainous terrain, a spectacular waterfall and an abundance of tropical birds all contributed to an unforgettable experience.
